As Madison braces for another heavy snow fall, the city council will decide whether it will spend $100,000 (from an emergency contingency fund) so Trek can put up for-profit bike kiosks. Madison is far less equipped to handle the snow than in the past and yet we still seem to find the money to give the bike lobby whatever they desire. Mayor Dave has consistently picked bike pet projects over plowing the streets, that's why I've decide to support Paul Soglin for Mayor. Paul Soglin shocked a few last night when he received more votes in the primary than current Mayor Dave Cieslewicz. I talk to Soglin about his plan to revitalize development in the city and why he has such a broad base of support among people from all segments of the community. Madison Mayoral candidate Paul Soglin is live in the studio to explain some key differences between himself and Mayor Dave. Soglin comments on the botched union contract Mayor Dave made in haste and why preparing for Walker's massive cuts to Madison is vital to the success of our city. We need a Mayor that is not only going to look out for workers but one who knows how to get this city on solid financial footing while Walker is governor. That's why I'm voting for Paul Soglin on April 5th. Topics: Sly in the Morning, 1670 WTDY, Paul Soglin, Mayor, Madison, Wisconsin, union, contracts, Mayor Dave
Paul Soglin is live in the studio to talk about some big differences between himself and Mayor Dave when it comes to defending labor in Madison. We also hear Paul's plans to combat poverty in our city, the right way to attract business, and Mayor Dave's predilection for privatizing city services. Nichols and I go over the resignation of former Governor Lucey's position as honorary chair of Prosser's campaign and his decision to support Kloppenburg. Mayor of Madison Dave Cieslewicz is live in the WTDY studio and I ask him the tough questions about crime on the Southwest side, downtown developments, and bikers obeying the law. Topics: Sly in the Morning, Mayor Dave, Madison, Madison 1670 WTDY, Dave Cieslewicz
Mayor Soglin has done the responsible thing and canceled Mayor Dave's one-sided deal with Trek which raided a emergency contingency fund so Trek could put up bike rental kiosks on public property. Isn't it refreshing to have a grown-up in charge? Topics: Sly in the Morning, 1670 WTDY, Madison, Wisconsin, Trek, Mayor Soglin, Mayor Dave
Mayor Dave's boondoggle bike bridge on E. Washington has cost an east side McDonald's significant business because their famous Golden Arches are now obscured. Now McDonald's wants to move down the block and the neighborhood is not thrilled with the plan. What I can't figure out is why anyone would care? Despite my fervent opposition, Trek's B-cycle rental program has invaded the Isthmus with more kiosks to come. While I'm happy Mayor Soglin got a better deal out of Trek, who would every want to pay to ride ones of this atrocious bikes? I need some insults to hurl at these bikers while I pass them in my Chevy Suburban. Topics: Sly in the Morning, 1670 WTDY, Madison, Wisconsin, b-cycle, Trek, rental, mayor soglin, insults,...
Madison Mayor Paul Soglin is on the live line to talk about his meeting with Governor Walker. Soglin made sure to mention that while Madison has been unjustly vilified for years, it is actually a huge revenue exporter and helps the rest of the state. When you hurt Madison, you hurt Wisconsin. Mayor Soglin also divulges some troubling details about Mayor Dave's budgeting practices and I get some great news about Ride the Drive. After my chat with Paul, we come up for some alternate routes for... Topics: Sly in the Morning, 1670 WTDY, Madison, Wisconsin, Mayor, Paul, Soglin, Budget, Mayor Dave, Ride...
